Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu (JU) organized a webinar titled “Challenges in Micro-Blogging Data Analytics” for the students of MCA department in which Dr. Soumi Dutta, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Applications, Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Kolkata, West Bengal was the resource person.
Dr. Dutta started her discussion with the usage of common microblogging websites such as Twitter, Weibo, Tumblr, etc. to exchange information. She further said that microblogs act as a significant and flexible communication platform for the users in various important events like elections, socio-political unrests, sports tournaments, and natural calamities. The growing popularity of microblogging websites not only provides large opportunities for communication but also opens up several challenges. She summed up by explaining methodologies for addressing two practical issues i.e. filtering out harmful content and information organization on these microblogging websites.
The webinar was organized under the stewardship of Professor Meena Sharma, Rector Kathua Campus, and Chief Coordinator Campuses, University of Jammu. Professor Sharma greeted the efforts of the resource person for sharing valuable knowledge with the students of the Campus. She said that organizing such online activities as webinars are the necessity of the present time as it engages the academicians, especially during the ongoing pandemic. She adhered to the idea that learning can take place anywhere and so she encouraged the campus students for taking part in such online activities apart from their academics. She lauded the efforts of the department for organizing the webinar and assured every future possible support.
Mr. Sourabh Shastri, Organizing Secretary of the webinar and Incharge Head, MCA Department thanked the resource person for her tremendous contribution in bringing innovative ideas regarding minor and major projects for students.
