Kathua Campus, JU organizes webinar on ‘6G Wireless Technology’

Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized a webinar with the title “Opportunities and Challenges in 6G Wireless Technology” for the students of semester 3rd and 5th of MCA department. Dr. Sridhar Iyer, Associate Professor, Department of ECE, S. G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi, Karnataka was the resource person. Dr. Iyer completed his M.S degree in Electrical and Communication Engineering from New Mexico State University, US in 2008 and Ph.D. degree from University of Delhi in 2017.

The webinar was focused on the need to shift from the current 4G/5G technology to 6G technology. Dr. Iyer laid out various open research avenues in the 6G Technology/Communication essentially, AI/ML Integration, Terrestrial and Satellite Communication Interoperability, User-Centric Ultra-Dense Networking etc. He summed up by providing details about the timeline required for implementation of the 6G technology.

Professor Meena Sharma, Rector Kathua Campus and Chief Coordinator Campuses greeted the efforts of the resource person for sharing valuable knowledge with the students of the Campus. She appreciated the efforts of the department in shaping the foundation of students and engaging the academicians, especially during the ongoing pandemic consequences. She further added that while the pandemic and its aftermath has a deep impact on the socio-economic life of the country as a whole, the education fraternity feels exalted to carry forward the teaching-learning affair amidst the havoc. She places her belief in the idea that learning can take place anywhere, and so she motivated the students to indulge more into online activities such as webinars apart from their regular academics.

Mr. Sourabh Shastri, Organizing Secretary of the webinar and Incharge Head, MCA Department thanked the resource person for his immense contribution in bringing innovative ideas to the students and emphasized upon the opportunistic utilization of time hence gifted by the lord. Adding more knowledge to the  event, he reassured students for organizing more similar insightful interactions with esteemed professionals of varied fields, for these activities helps in strengthening the very foundation of students for upcoming challenges of the advanced times.
